A little way down the page we've got car facts that you think are true but aren't 100% sure.
!!! UNKNOWN CONTENT TYPE !!!
What about car facts you've told or heard that are complete, utter bullshit?
Back when I was selling cars we'd practice sales walkarounds and they'd often devolve into bullshit contests, seeing who could come up with the craziest yet most plausible sounding car facts. Here are two favorites I came up with that people actually believed when I repeated them later.
Tinted windows increase gas mileage.
Tinted windows are black, and as anyone who's worn a black shirt in the summer knows, black attracts sunlight and generates heat. Hot air is less dense than cooler air, so when driving in bright sunlight the vehicle's tinted windows generate a pocket of less dense air around the car, decreasing wind resistance and increasing gas mileage.
Viscous couplings are named after their inventor.
The viscous coupling, like you often find in the center differential of an AWD vehicle, was invented by Johannes Viscous. He was an engineer working for Audi in the 1960's.
Tell us your best, Oppo.

My father used to believe that to drift, you need FWD.

To be fair, handbrake drifts do work better in FWD cars.

This actually makes negative sense.
